February News from Team PHenomenal Hope
It has been a HUGE month for Team PHenomenal Hope, as we opened 2016 with a huge race on the other side of the world and have lots of exciting events ahead. There is a lot going on, so fasten your bike helmets and pedal with us on the latest update.
Thank you for helping us reach the finish line and our goal in The Pioneer New Zealand! With your help we surpassed our goal of raising over $1 for every meter climbed, raising over $16,000 to support Pulmonary Hypertension Association research funds. And with your good thoughts and the support of friends near and far, we were able to raise awareness about pulmonary hypertension in New Zealand and beyond. It was the race of a lifetime, and we invite you to hear from PG on exactly what this race meant to her and Team PHenomenal Hope. For those who donated, we will be announcing our raffle prize winners on Facebook today! Thank you for supporting our cause.
Announcing our 2016 sponsors. This month, our sponsor feature post is dedicated to all our new and returning sponsors. This sponsorship support helps our essential efforts to continue to build our national and international nonprofit. We thank you.
Announcing our new fundraising initiative: The PHenomenal Impact Fund. Team PHenomenal Hope is announcing a new fundraising initiative to raise funds to directly fund research into pulmonary hypertension so that with each race and event we actually get one step closer to a cure. We will use the next two Pittsburgh-based events to set off on this huge fundraising effort. So please join us at the PH5K and Pittsburgh Marathon. And as our next major efforts are based in our hometown, our PH Patient profiles will focus on people living with PH in Pittsburgh, like this month’s story from Ashley Hanks.
Join us in Pittsburgh’s PHenomenal Hope 5K on April 10. For the third year in a row, Julia Feitner is organizing Pittsburgh’s biggest PH awareness event and fundraiser, the PH5K. And we need you! Come run, walk, and/or celebrate with the PH community as we all come together in this PH race. Please come run, volunteer, or support the event. We need you! For more information, see the PH5K website at http://phenomenalhope5k.com.
Race with us to make a difference in the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 1. Team PH is back in the Pittsburgh Marathon, and this year we are excited to be an official Run for a Reason Charity! Now you and your friends have a chance to run with us – to help us raise awareness about PH and funds for pulmonary hypertension research. If you haven’t yet registered, you can sign up for free, and your fundraising will help us also reach our goals. And if you’ve already registered, you can still race with us and join our Crowdrise team. Finally, please help us support Pittsburgh’s biggest race and volunteer! For more information about how you can help Team PHenomenal Hope in the Pittsburgh Marathon please go to our marathon page here: http://www.teamphenomenalhope.org/2016-pittsburgh-marathon/
Introducing our Team PH Ambassadors. Our team continues to grow! This month we would like to welcome 4 new members to our team: Katrin, Axel, Jaime and Kathleen. They’ll be riding and racing in Germany, California and Florida, helping put PH on the map. Do you want to race with Team PH? Please contact us through our website.
Are you a patient with pulmonary hypertension? Let Me Be Your Lungs. This year it’s personal and we need you! As we expand our efforts, we are recruiting patients to join us. We would like to pair you up with an athlete running with Team PHenomenal Hope so that you can so that our athletes have a personal connection to pulmonary hypertension and so you have a personal tie to Team PHenomenal Hope! Our first major event in this campaign will be the Pittsburgh Marathon. Please contact us for more information and join us in this race.
Thank you for all you do to support Team PHenomenal Hope.
