2015 June News
As our June newsletter hits your inbox, we are less than two weeks away from the Race Across the West. On Tuesday, June 16 at 12:00PM PDT. The team is ready to take on this challenging 860-mile course over mountains and through the deserts, day and night. This year we are a 2-woman team, with 8-person crew, racing to make a difference with thousands of people who live with PH everyday.
Make sure you check out our Race Across the West web page and follow our pre-RAW blog article series, as we share with you some of what it takes to prepare for this team ultracycling event. From crew to training, from communications to nutrition and gear, we’ll give you an inside look in the coming weeks.
We invite you to follow along with us as we bring you along with Facebook and twitter updates full of photos and video! There will also be live tracking available via Tractalis, so make sure you check in with us and race with us as we Race Across the West!
In other news, it has been an incredible May! As we highlighted in our last newsletter, we again thank everyone who participated in the Pittsburgh Marathon and truly made it a special hometown event. Runners raised over $1000 to support pulmonary hypertension research, and our top fundraisers for the event were Beth Lendermon and Mike Bauer. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsor Eat’n Park, Beth and Mike will receive a gift card for a dinner at any EnP establishment of their choice (Eat’n Park, The Porch, or Six Penn Kitchen)!
Team PH athletes continued to race with passion and shine wherever they go. Pascale Lercangee set a new age group record at the Calvin’s Challenge 12-hour race. Patricia George completed her 400-km qualifier in a ride from Pittsburgh to Erie and back, as she attempts to qualify for Paris-Brest-Paris this August. Ryanne Palermo raced and conquered her 50-miler ultra-marathon, coming back from a knee injury to push through new boundaries. And Amanda Gabarda had a great half ironman in Chattanooga and set a new personal record in the event!
Finally, as we gear up and kick into the next gear, we ask you to help us in our race to raise PH Awareness and funds to find a cure! Please share our newsletter, invite your friends to follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and invite people to make a tax-deductible, secure online donation to Team PHenomenal Hope through our website.
