Event Summary

Dr. Michael Velaetis is running the ultramarathon trail race in Cinque Terre, Italy. It has always been a goal of his to run this entire 28 mile race, with over 8000 feet of elevation, after first visiting the beautiful national park in 2015. He is not historically an endurance athlete, but is a full time critical care physician assistant in a medical intensive care unit who fell into endurance running during the pandemic as an escape from the busy ICU days. Michael and his colleagues treat patients with pulmonary hypertension which has now led him to run for something bigger than the race itself.
