July News from Team PHenomenal Hope
As our newsletter hits your inbox, we are feeling a lot of excitement at Team PHenomenal Hope. We’re pumped because this month we get to showcase people who have chosen to race with Team PH for very personal reasons, and in so doing are spreading our work beyond Pittsburgh to the West Coast and overseas.
Team PH racers on two continents this weekend
On Saturday, July 30 in California, Jaime will be racing his first Ironman triathlon at Vineman.
He has joined our team to honor his sister, Liz, who lives with pulmonary hypertension.
He’s put the time and training in, he’s truly dedicated himself to this race and our cause, and now he’ll race the 140.4 miles to finish his first Ironman triathlon.
Meanwhile overseas in Germany, Axel and Katrin will be racing with two 4-person teams in honor of Greta, their daughter who has PH. These 8 athletes will be racing 24-hours straight to complete the Rad Am Ring bicycle race. Read more about their quest in Katrin’s latest blog.
Coming up in August
And in August, you’ll see our ultra running team racing in West Virginia to kick off their campaign to race Bertioga Maresias in October with our sister team, Team PH Brasil. Make sure you cheer for Mandy, Mike, Monica, and Christian as they race as a 4-person team, and Dana Ivanco who is racing with her friends and family in Ragnar Trail Appalachians on August 12-13! You’ll also be seeing Team PH athletes race the Ohio Ironman 70.3. More on that in our next newsletter.
