Team PHenomenal Hope Announces New Board Chair, Eric Borstein

July 07,2025

Team PHenomenal Hope is proud to announce the appointment of Eric “EB” Borstein as Chair of the Board of Directors. Eric brings to this role not only a wealth of leadership experience but also a profoundly personal connection to our mission.

In 2020, Eric’s life changed dramatically when he collapsed at home from massive right heart failure and was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a rare and life-threatening disease with no cure. He spent sixteen days in the intensive care unit at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, fighting for his life. In the aftermath of his diagnosis, Eric turned to walking as a pathway to physical and emotional healing. What began as short strolls grew into a vital, empowering part of his life. Between 2022 and 2024, Eric walked over 14,500 miles, a testament to his resilience and his commitment to managing life with PAH.

Eric credits his recovery and progress to the combination of effective medical treatment, daily exercise, disciplined nutrition, strong mental health practices, and the unwavering support of his family, friends, and community—his “village.” Together, these make up what Eric calls the “pieces of his pie,” essential elements in living with a terminal illness.

During his journey, Eric was introduced to National Jewish Health and began supporting cutting-edge PAH research. It was there that he met Dr. Patty George and learned about Team PHenomenal Hope, connecting deeply with the organization’s mission and the powerful message behind “Let Me Be Your Lungs.”

As Board Chair, Eric brings unmatched passion and lived experience to the role. His leadership is guided by a strong commitment to awareness, advocacy, and amplifying the voices of those affected by pulmonary hypertension.

In addition to his role with Team PH, Eric is the founder of the Where is EB? 5K and fundraiser, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Borstein Family Foundation, and sits on the boards of UCLA Children’s Hospital and PS Science. He lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife and three children.

Please join us in welcoming Eric as our Board Chair as we continue our mission to support the PH community through advocacy, research, and hope.
