An Uplifting Month: Letter from the Director

July 27,2021

What an uplifting month we have had at Team PH! This past Saturday, July 17 we hosted the 2021 Team PH Virtual Town Hall, “Living with Pulmonary Hypertension Beyond the Pandemic.” More than 230 PH community members registered to learn about our array of patient-centric topics, including exercise with PH, travel with PH, visiting the emergency room, research updates, and PH during the pandemic. We were thrilled to also announce the 2021 winner of our third annual research award from the PHenomenal Impact Fund for Global PH Research, Dr. Nicole Ruopp of Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Ruopp’s proposal titled, “A Safety and Feasibility Study of Superior Vena Cava Occlusion in Patients with Advanced Pre-Capillary Pulmonary Hypertension,” will contribute to the advancement of discoveries in the field of PH.

Did you miss the Town Hall? No sweat, you can watch our recap, broken down by each session, here. We want to thank our presenters and sponsors for their time and support, which made this event possible.

Our Let Me Be Your Lungs athletes are continuing to race throughout the heat of the summer. Our own Carl Hicks will be participating in the Columbia River Triathlon on August 14 in support of his Let Me Be Your Lungs PH partners Cheryl Stracke and Charlotte McCabe. Read more about why Carl races, and make a donation to his efforts here.

There is still time to join our Let Me Be Your Lungs program. Thus far, our Let me Be Your Lungs athletes have collectively raised more than $16,000 to support our Unmet Needs Patient Impact Fund and the PHenomenal Impact Fund for Global PH Research. If you would like to join our team and participate in a race, virtual or live, reach out to our program manager, Katie Werner at katie@teamphenomenalhope.org to get started or learn more today!

We have some exciting projects coming up in the next few months around patient education and further support! Watch for upcoming announcements in our newsletter and social media channels. We can’t want to share what we are working on!

Reminder that the Unmet Needs Fund reopens on Monday, August 2. This is a key program that provides immediate financial relief to patients in need of assistance. Please keep the donations for this fund coming, the need is great to help our patients.
