PH Awareness Month Schedule

October 20,2021

As the fall leaves are changing colors and days are getting shorter and colder, we have been busy preparing for our favorite month, November, pulmonary hypertension awareness month. As we reflect on the past year and a half of supporting the PH community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have heard from patients, caregivers, and medical professionals a renewed spirit of hope and emphasis on living well both physically and mentally. We have had to adapt to wearing masks, social distancing, heightened hygiene, telehealth, vaccines, and determining how and when it is safe to return to in-person appointments and activities. For many, the stress of managing their PH during the pandemic has had mental health consequences.

At Team PH, we have taken what we have learned and created an awareness month schedule of activities that focus on ways we can “Live Well Now and Beyond.” Portions of this campaign are supported by our friends at Janssen Pharmaceuticals.

We will kick off PH awareness month with CVS Pharmacy in-store radio spots promoting awareness month nationwide. These radio ads will run all throughout the month of November, so be sure to pop into a CVS near you and listen for Team PH.

Next we are thrilled to work with professional paddleboard athlete April Zilg in a new Let Me Be Your Lungs event! April is competing November 6-7 in the Carolina Cup paddleboard race, and will share her platform to bring awareness and support for Team PH. She will be holding a giveaway on her Instagram with a package including a Garmin Forerunner 945, and a $250 Salt Life gift card–a $1000 value! Follow April on Instagram @aprilzilg to learn more about how to gain more chances for the giveaway through donating to Team PH at To get us started on donations for this part, an anonymous donor has promised a $5000 match if that much is raised by Sunday, November 7.

Next up on Wednesday, November 10 at 7 p.m. ET, Dr. Noah Greenspan is back by popular demand. He will be presenting a deeper dive into living well with pulmonary rehab exercises in a Zoom in a session titled, “Living Well with PH: Pulmonary Rehab.” All those living with pulmonary hypertension and their caregivers are encouraged to join the fun. You can register to join in here.

Our next Team PH Support Group meeting is on Friday, November 12 from 2-4 p.m. ET. This meeting, will be led by Julia Feitner, who lives with PH, and will detail tools and tips on how to safely travel with PH. This comes just in time for the upcoming holiday season. PH patients are welcome to join–sign up today here.

We aren’t done yet! If you’re on Twitter, participate in our #TeamPHChat on Monday, November 22 at 8 p.m. ET. You let us know you’re most interested in talking about PH and pediatrics, so we will be taking the hour to answer and discuss questions related to this topic. You can submit a question(s) ahead of time–just head to our Twitter @TeamPHHope and respond to our pinned tweet.

Finally, on Tuesday, November 30 at 8 p.m. ET we will host a special virtual roundtable on Zoom titled, “Medical Round Table: Living Well with PH and Navigating Misinformation.” Panelists from our medical professional community Dr. Jean Elwing. Dr. Wendy Chung, Dr. Lana Melendres, and Dr. Christopher King will discuss learning to navigate misinformation and related topics. Register here.

Additionally, we are looking forward to premiering videos for our Living Well Now and Beyond campaign that will provide a checklist for living well with PH both now and beyond whatever lies ahead for our society. We will also include blogs from people living with PH and members of our Let Me Be Your Lungs endurance program reflecting on lifestyle changes and moving forward from the past year.

Team PH would like to thank the following corporate partners that support not only our PH awareness month activities but all that we do throughout the year: Janssen, CVS Health, Bayer, Altavant, Acceleron, and United Therapeutics.

We hope to see you at our awareness month events! We are looking forward to a wonderful month.
