Racing Through Summer: Letter from the Director
Five months into the COVID-19 pandemic and it is hard to think that summer is halfway over. The summer has looked vastly different from what we had planned, but we have pivoted and come up with some novel ways of continuing our efforts amidst our new normal.
We responded to requests for information regarding clinical trials for PH patients and held our very first Virtual Research Town Hall on July 11. More than 109 participants representing 10 countries, including patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and industry learned about clinical trials and new research. Presenters included last year’s winner of the PHenomenal Impact Fund for Global PH Research award, Vineet Agrawal.

Our PHenomenal Impact Fund for Global PH Research is supported through the generous efforts of volunteers in the community who host events like the PHenomenal Hope 5K, Callie’s Gaming for a Cure, the JonTron Live Charity Auction, the Let Us Be Your Lungs 5K, and the PHfreinds4Life Concert in the Park.
At the end of June the PHenomenal Hope 5K brought in more than $35,000 to support our mission, despite the event being moved to virtual. Even a pandemic could not deter the support from our community, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Many thanks to our event organizer Kayla Frattini for putting her heart and soul into making this event fun, engaging, and successful.
At Team PH we are busy planning for the remainder of 2020 and 2021 to continue to serve the PH community.
