Uniting in Solidarity on May 5th, World PH Day: Letter from the Director
First, let me ask, how is everyone doing after a month or so of social distancing? Personally, I’m finding it difficult to cope some days. However, it stands out to me how our PH community has responded to this crisis: with determination and hope rather than fear.
I see many members of the community sharing ideas, sharing stories to support and inspire others, using new technology to connect with friends, family and doctors, participating in Team PH’s first ever Twitter Chat, and sewing masks to support our Sew for Hope campaign. I am truly inspired by how we have come together as a community to support each other during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have compiled these stories and resources and encourage you to take advantage of this information here.
May 5th is World PH Day and in symbol of solidarity our endurance program is celebrating with a Virtual Race Day. Although races across the country and worldwide have been cancelled, our athletes continue to support those who suffer from PH. On May 5th, we will run around our neighborhoods, hit the treadmill, pedal on our Peloton bikes, and continue to fundraise to support our mission. These funds are needed to support our expanded Unmet Needs Patient Impact Fund for COVID-19 relief and to also support our PHenomenal Impact Fund for Global PH Research.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our volunteers and medical professionals including pulmonary and cardiology specialists, researchers, respiratory therapists, nurses, and medical assistants who are on the front lines of this pandemic working long hours with limited resources, and using new technologies to connect with patients and sharing ideas for treatment protocols as they look for ways to save more lives.
We encourage everyone to continue social distancing practices, stay home, and remember to lean on our resources during this time. During these uncertain times, please keep our PH community in your thoughts and consider making a donation to Team PH. In order to meet the need of our expanded Unmet Needs Fund for COVID-19 relief we will be directing donations to support this fund.
You may make your donation to Team PH online at www.teamph.org or by check to Team PHenomenal Hope, P.O.
